The death and resurrection of Jesus are the greatest events in history. This past Sunday, Christians all over the world celebrated the Resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ, from the dead. Pastor Anison presented to us, the true meaning of the Resurrection power of Jesus. Easter is not a 2000 year old story, but a reality. For those that believe it is power of resurrection working in us right now. His Resurrection is vindication of the victory over sin, death, and the devil He finished on the Cross; it’s the Father’s stamp of approval on the salvation work His Son accomplished by living the perfect, sinless life we can’t live and by making the perfect sacrifice for the sin of the world on the Cross.

The most powerful three words before Jesus’ death on the cross, that demonstrated everything pertaining to the salvation and deliverance of mankind was ‘IT IS FINISHED’. Another powerful 3 words spoken after the resurrection, that brings us hope is “HE IS RISEN”.

•	Mentioned by all Gospel writers: All the gospel writers, even though they had different introductions, they concluded and emphasized on the resurrection of Jesus from the dead.
Mathew: Started the story of Jesus with the genealogy of Jesus Christ from Abraham and David, giving the credential of a Jewish Messiah from a Jewish viewpoint. He ends with the resurrection of Jesus and the Final commission.
Mark: Starts with the ministry life of Jesus (mission) and ends with resurrection
Luke: begins with the annunciation that the angel gave to Mary and ends with the resurrection and ascension of Jesus.
John: his record starts from the incarnate existence of Christ as God Himself and ends with the resurrection, giving special emphasis on the post resurrection appearances of Christ.

•	Resurrection of Jesus is the key foundation to our salvation. The Bible says whoever will believe in their heart that Jesus died and rose again and will confess with their mouth Jesus as Lord, will be saved!

The meaning of Resurrection of Jesus:

1. Jesus becoming the first fruits of those who will be raised from among the dead. (1 Cor 15:20)
Paul uses a very powerful analogy from the Old Testament to illustrate the future resurrection of the saints. After the Passover, the people of Israel will present before the priest, a portion of their first produce as they anticipate the greater harvest which is yet to come. Paul while making reference to this practice is emphatic in stating that the believers can be sure of their own resurrection since Jesus has become the first fruit among those who are going to be resurrected.
Jesus’ resurrection in the past guarantees my future resurrection.

2. Resurrection of Jesus produces power:
It is not just an event that happened 2000 years ago, but the power that is still available for the saints of God.

If the standard of God’s power in the Old Testament was the deliverance of the people of Israel through the Red Sea, then the standard of God’s power in the New Testament is the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
It is the exceeding great power: “the exceeding greatness of His power to us all who believe according to the working of His mighty power when He wrought in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and set as His own right hand in heavenly places.” (Eph 1:19,20) It didn’t put any strain on God to create the world. He just created it by His power. But it put a strain on God to raise Jesus from the dead. The word ‘exceeding greatness’ has an awful lot of energy.

We need to remember ,that’s the power that’s working in us.
Even our prayers answered is according to the power of resurrection in us – Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us (Eph 3:20)

It is the same Spirit !
And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you. (Romans 8:11)
What happened at the tomb of Jesus was so powerful, but a onetime event in History. When the Spirit of God that raised Jesus from the dead moved upon the tomb, it shook the stone. It was not just the Roman imperial seal that was kept to hold him back, but it was every demonic power from hell, every witchcraft, sorcery and every sin of man that was trying to hold Him back from resurrection. But with action of the Holy spirit, the stone just rolled away, and made Jesus raise from the dead, destroying the powers of evil forever. If that happened once in history, The Bible tells us that the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is living inside of us. It is a working power, not a theoretical power .

What happens when that Spirit that raised Jesus is living inside us:
It is preparing us for the coming of the Lord.
It changes us from inside out, as transformed people whose character will represent Christ. The same power that is able to raise Jesus from the grave is able to raise us from sin and to transform us into His likeness.
It protects us from the powers of evil.
It is the same power that will resurrect us to be with Him forever when Christ returns.
He will quicken our mortal bodies. Quicken means to make alive, fill with life. It is the power that will touch the dead situations in our life, be it a broken relationship, children, financial breakdown- it will produce life.

By E. C. Samkutty, PhD

The finances of the Keralite immigrants were limited in those days. Most of them were struggling with their new lives in this land, having to make payments for their houses and cars, in addition to the expenses for sending their newly-landed spouses for education and career training. The conveners did not have a large budget to work with or to plan ahead. They also found it difficult to locate hotels with adequate conference halls in a short notice.

One night, toward the very end of a Saturday evangelistic service in Houston, my son Ranjith (six years old) was on his way to the rest room located several hundred feet away from the main conference hall. The large open-air hall had no walls, but only a roof made of metal sheets resting on a few concrete poles. A big dog that guarded the ranch chased Ranjith until he fell into a muddy ditch. He dragged himself out, his clothes dripping muddy water, ran toward the main stage crying: “I want my daddy. I want my daddy!” If my memory is correct, Pastors Valson Abraham and P.D. Johnson had finished their sermons and altar calls and had just left the stage. A few lay believers who were counting the offering near the podium helped my son through this ordeal.

How different were the accommodations then compared to the state-of the-art auditoriums and the modernized surroundings we have been privileged to enjoy in recent years. May I add here that in spite of our limited accommodations in Houston, some of the most stirring sermons I ever heard were delivered by our ministers in the Houston conference. So we had many blessings to compensate for the mosquito bites that lingered on our bodies for many days.

In November1982, while I was teaching in Mississippi, I received a phone call from Brother Babu George, the first president of the Pentecostal Youth Conference of Dallas (PYCD). He invited me to speak for the first official PYCD conference. On a Friday evening in December, I flew to Dallas. This was about seven months before the first PCNAK convention in Oklahoma City in 1983, conducted under the leadership of Pastor Oommen Abraham.

If my memory is correct, I had with me an old type of movie projector and also a film(reel) titled Rajamma which was based on the story of an Indian Hindu lady converted to Pentecostal faith in the early fifties. As I expected, the youth crowd in the conference was very small, not more than fifty. Most of the youngsters were elementary and middle school students. There were a few high school students though. I do not remember seeing any college students. As a matter of fact, during those days there were not many youngsters in the Keralite community beyond high school age. Most parents were in their late twenties or early thirties. I do not remember seeing a single gray-haired, bald- headed, pot-bellied Keralite parent in the crowd.

After the group watched Rajamma on Saturday morning, I ministered the Word based on the life of Moses. A brief discussion followed, presided over by Pastor T. Thomas. The main coordinator, Mr. Babu K. Iype, had already distributed note pads for the youths to write down their questions and concerns for me to answer. There were not any questions about dating or wearing of jewelry or inter-racial marriages. In those days, the youths did not even dare to raise publicly such issues that were in conflict with the culture or beliefs of their parents.

Also I remember several questions related to brother-sister conflict: “Samkutty Uncle, my brother is bothering me a lot. He sneaks into my room, messes up all my books and stuff, and even pinches me always and pulls my hair locks.” I jokingly told all the bullies to behave and leave their sisters alone. There were also questions about the theory of evolution which was taught in high school science classes. I was amazed to see that there were several questions about sharing the salvation message to Hindu school mates. Even at a young age, our youth had a passion for winning others to Christ.

About eight Keralite Pentecostal churches from the Dallas-Fort Worth area participated in this memorable meeting. This was my first Keralite youth conference in North America in which I ministered exclusively to the youths.

One thing I noticed was that the parents who assembled were gravely concerned about the future of their children growing up in a licentious society. Nobody talked about retirement or going back to India. Their chief goal was to establish churches that would give the youths a strong spiritual foundation. They thought that frequent youth meetings, talent competitions, and seminars would help considerably toward achieving this goal. The parents were ready to invest time and finances toward this goal.

However, the PYCD conference was not my first Keralite convention. About four years before this conference, I spoke in a local Malayalee convention in Dallas organized by Pastor K. C. Chacko in April 1979. A lot of non-Pentecostal Keralites attended that convention. The new immigrants who arrived in Texas were lonely, and they were also hungry for the Word of God. In later years, the non-Pentecostal crowd in our meetings dwindled because the leaders of outside churches in major cities advised their members against attending Pentecostal meetings. Many who attended our cottage meetings and conventions eventually joined our churches which had disturbed many leaders of the traditional churches.

Back in 1977, I remember visiting one of the most dynamic Keralite churches I have ever been to. It was a Pentecostal church pastored by Rev. K. A. Thomas in Chicago, the largest Keralite church in America during those days. There were more than one hundred people on that cold December Sunday morning. During those years, I lived in Arkansas and Louisiana where there were no Keralite churches. The Chicago congregation worshipped just like those in the churches in Kerala. The only musical instrument that morning was the old Indian drum that evoked solemn memories in the minds of all who were born and brought up in India. Words are inadequate to express the varying waves of emotion I felt hearing the sounds of the drum after having left my home church at Ezhamkulam about seven years before that day. (I also remember the Indian drum used in a couple of worship services I attended in Dallas and Houston in 1976 and 1977 respectively).

The old fashioned drum is no more to be heard in most of our churches. I see this shift as symbolical. Just as the drum has been thrown out through the back door, many of our good spiritual traditions are also gradually being discarded, and most of us do not even notice such things until it is too late. The Indian drum is a simple and highly effective musical instrument that greatly helps free worship, but unfortunately many of our people today speak cynically about this user-friendly tool of worship that can be played even by people with no talents or training in music. Playing the Indian drum requires no concentration, so even the player can fully engage his mind in the worship of the Lord along with everybody else.

During a Saturday afternoon in one of our PCNAK conferences, I was walking toward a large room in which the General Body All Male Business Meeting was in progress. I saw Dr. C. T. Luiskutty walking out of the meeting hurriedly. He was sobbing like a child with tears running down his face: “Samkutty, Samkutty, what is this? What is happening? What kind of example is this before our children? Why should we spend our money and time if this is the end result? I do not even want to be in this room.”

This was what happened!! Luiskutty had just witnessed several minutes of confusion and heated arguments during the business meeting in which a couple of brothers lost their control. Abruptly, some brother in the session shifted himself in high gear, angrily moved forward, started arguing with a couple of pastors, and pushed one of the pastors. Other brothers quickly moved into the middle and prevented the incident from progressing into a climax. This obviously shocked Luiskutty. If my memory is correct, a small number of children were watching the business meeting from the very back of the room.

Dr. Thomson K. Mathew and I comforted Luiskutty and dragged him back to the business meeting. I consoled him that in conferences like this, with delegates deciding on major issues with no guidelines on parliamentary procedures, some conflicts and skirmishes are bound to happen. Most everybody is guilty of unexpected outbursts at one time or another which lead to incidents that the individual would never want to happen. We must forgive and suggest ways to prevent such incidents in the future. Finally, Luiskutty returned back to the meeting. The outcome of the meeting was successful. Many important decisions about the future of the Keralite Conference were decided that afternoon.

During the weekend of the 1985 Tennessee conference, many participants decided to enjoy some sightseeing on Friday afternoon. My family decided to join a few brothers and sisters who were visiting the Ruby Falls near Chattanooga. The elevators took us 1,200 feet down under the mountain. We were amazed at all the waterfalls and springs at the belly of the mountain. I realized we were in a place like the Greek underworld depicted in Homer’s epic poem Odyssey.

Suddenly the lights went off. Obviously there was a power outage. I had a strange feeling as I began to shake and sweat. I felt dizzy and my heartbeat began to jump. A strange fear engulfed me completely. I felt like screaming, but resisted, knowing that I was to preach in the conference and must show courage in front of people who knew me. I told my wife secretly what was happening to me. She held me tight with her hands. I began to call upon the name of Jesus.

Within a couple of minutes, the lights came back on, and I was relieved a little bit, but was gasping for breath having become incapacitated for several minutes. I promised myself never again to get into a situation like that involving underground places. Those two minutes without lights were like two eons.

In the late nineteen eighties, I had a desire to reach the Keralite immigrant generation in all major cities in North America with the full gospel message. First I mailed multiple thousands of cassette tapes with inspiring sermons on the subject of living a happy family. The message was interdenominational in approach which could be enjoyed by all regardless of denominational or religious affiliations. This has reached fifteen hundred Malayalee families in New York alone. The responses were very positive, even from Hindus.

My next step was to reach the Keralite immigrant generation with the Pentecostal message. In the early nineties, I got from India (by sea mail) ten thousand copies of my historical novel (Palam Thettiya Theevandi) written in the background of the Pentecostal movement in India and mailed the book to nine thousand Keralite families in the United States. I collected their addresses through various secular sources.

The response was not very pleasant . Many non-Pentecostals and Hindus were irritated, especially because there is a strong voice in my book against idol worship, veneration of relics, and mediation through deceased saints. I received many anonymous threatening letters, some full of profanity. Many Hindus and non-Pentecostal readers asked me to remove their addresses from the mailing list. One person opened the envelop, read the book, sealed it back in the same envelop, scribbled profanity on top of the envelop, peeled off his address, wrote my address in the same space, and returned it with the following note above the address label: “Refused.” The United States postal authorities could have easily read the entire profanity if they knew Malayalam language!! For many months, I sincerely prayed for that person (whoever it was) that he would repent and come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

I was not disappointed with negative responses, because there were a lot of positive ones too. Somewhere I read that in the early nineties, there were approximately thirty thousand Keralite families in America, including Hindus and Moslems. If that population count was accurate, then the Lord enabled me to reach about one-third of all the Keralite families in America during that time with the full gospel message. Many shared the book with their neighbors and friends. I am grateful to many believers who supported me financially in this effort to reach the Keralites.

One of the most encouraging responses was from Pastor A. C. George (New York) who called me on the phone and said “Samkutty, I visit a lot of non-Pentecostal families as part of our outreach program. A good number of those families have received your book, and many have read it. Because they were touched by the message, now-a-days,we receive very warm welcome in those homes.” Another was from Dr. Sunny Philip:“Brother Samkutty, I was sitting in the waiting room of a government office in New York reading a Christian book. A non-Pentecostal lady who sat near me asked me “What is that book you are reading?” I showed her the title of the English book I was reading. Then she took a book out of her handbag and delightfully said that she was also reading a book. I was happy to notice that the book in her hand was your book Palam Thettiya Theevandi. The message God entrusted you with is reaching people outside our community.”

I pray that my memoirs in this article will help people to remember our past and thank God for the ways in which God has helped us to be a light in this dark world. I also hope that these words will challenge readers to do more things for the Kingdom of God. Our movement has its failures and pitfalls, but the Pentecostal message is a unique one that can free people from the bondages of sin. It is a message that shares the whole counsel of God with an emphasis on the power of the Holy Spirit that enables people to freely worship God in truth and in Spirit. There is no freedom without true worship. There is no true worship where the Holy Spirit is nor allowed to operate freely. I am blessed to have been born and brought up in a local church that believed in the Holy Spirit and encouraged believers to fast and pray and even tarry until empowered with the fire that is from above.

A custom-built product, unlike a mass production item, is one that is made to fit individual specifications. The manufacturers invest a considerable amount of energy and finances to see that a given product meets the peculiar taste of the individual customer. For example, a computer can be ordered with or without a DVD player. In the case of a car, we can choose cruise control or decide to do without it.

Those who live in America are very much used to custom-made products, though the idea is not so familiar to those who live in third-world countries. Here we can even get “custom-made” sandwiches, chicken legs, and omelets. However, if we visit a village restaurant in India, the server would not give us a choice based on whether we like the item spicy or mild, rare, medium, or well cooked. People in developing countries, in general, are thankful for what they have, while most people in affluent countries are hard to please even when the most peculiar specifications and wishes are met.

Today, our society even has the privilege of custom-built, tailor-made Sabbaths. People who enjoy sleeping late on Sunday mornings have the privilege of attending noon services. What about those who want to go fishing on the Lord’s Day? There are churches in many cities that conduct “Sunday Services” on Saturday nights, leaving the members free to mind their own businesses on Sundays. Recently, one of my neighbors who regularly attends Saturday night worship services said: “ I can get it over with Saturday night; I have all Sunday for myself.”

Churches today are more than willing to make any adjustments to accommodate the wishes, fancies, and whims of the people. The word “discipline” has almost become an obsolete or archaic word in the Pentecostal-Charismatic dictionary.

Many who attend spiritual conferences come with the mental disposition typical of a generation that is so used to custom-built products. “If it does not meet my needs, then I have no obligation to support it,” they seem to believe. They are the ones who talk and disturb, yawn and doze off during conference sessions. A good number of them also seem to have bladder-control dysfunction, for they have to visit restrooms so frequently during sermons and also in between praise and worship songs.

Such people have distinct attitude patterns. If any program does not meet their peculiar affinities, they reject it. Some will listen only if the speaker has a loud thundering voice. Certainly, the body of Christ has been blessed with speakers who deliver the oracles of God in earth-shattering voices. However, we must not forget that God has used numerous preachers who deliver their sermons in a soft-spoken, low-pitch style. Some are impressed only if the speaker runs around and across the stage. However, may we not forget that God has also spoken through evangelists who are calm and composed in their pulpit manners. The world had been inspired by ministers who adhere to a traditional preaching style, and also by ministers who bring the message of God to the people in a “teaching” style.

Are we hard to please? Have we become too demanding? Do we attend conferences with an attitude so negative that we reject everybody and everything that does not satisfy us in a special and personal way? Are we nervously impatient when the registration line is a little long or when the food does not satisfy our peculiar tastes or when the minister extends the altar service beyond the closing time? If so, we are spoiled.

Jesus Christ is not custom-built. He is not tailor-made. Neither is he user-friendly. He cannot be mail-ordered to meet our wishes.

As we meet for large-scale conferences, may we remember that every breakfast, every lunch, and every supper may not be extraordinary and memorable. Every desk clerk may not be prompt. Every line will not be short. Every seminar, every preaching session may not cater to each person’s peculiar affinities. This is the occasion when we are called to be adorned with a positive attitude. Remember that people who serve us—waiters and waitresses, desk clerks and custodians, managers and law enforcement officials—all are watching us. Jesus is either glorified or dishonored through our actions and attitudes.

We expect a lot from conference coordinators. May we realize that the Lord Jesus expects a lot more from us as individual participants. He expects that we be custom-built and tailor-made to conform to His image and attitude. He expects that we become user-friendly to Him, so that He can easily use us in any manner He chooses.

Pastor (Capt.) A. M. Samuel

The Unique Sheep

“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. ” (Gen. 2: 7) “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it; for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. ” (Gen. 2: 17)

As we have seen in our previous study, God fashioned man out of the dust of the ground, covered him with His own glory, placed him in a garden where a tree of knowledge was there, but forbade him from eating the fruit of the tree.
In Gen. 3: 1, we read, “Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman yea, hath God said, ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?” God allowed the serpent to enter in and to tempt Eve.

If these three things – “Dust, tree of knowledge, serpent” had not been there then we would not have been, what we are today. The reasons for all the problems surrounding us are these three things. Therefore it is very easy to point the finger at God and to blame Him, saying we have nothing to do, its His mistake, but there is a deep mystery behind all this. Let us go deep and look at the reason after all why God allowed all this?

Dust, tree and the Serpent!

Come let us go to the beautiful garden, planted by God Himself. Here He took the dust and fashioned a shape of the first man, and into his nostrils breathed His own life, and covered him with His own glory. Could not God make man out of something else? Secondly He kept both the man and the woman, who were made out of dust in a garden, which had everything. But God planted a tree of knowledge right in the middle of the beautiful garden. But commanded both Adam and Eve not to eat of it. Why? Thirdly man was kept in the garden to keep it, but the serpent entered in. Could not God prevent the serpent from entering? Why did he not keep the angels outside the garden with flaming swords, even after knowing beforehand that one day the serpent will enter in? Why all this? God made man of dust and kept two tests before him – The tree and the serpent.

What is the mystery behind all this? God is Almighty, He is, “I am that I am”, He is self-existent from the beginning. He is the eternal One. He has no beginning or ending. He is the Creator. Therefore God desires that man too be like Him. If God perfects man, without man doing anything then this man can never be like God, but will always be inferior. As God is God in his own right, so does God desire that man also be like Him on his own. Therefore God fashioned man out of the dust and kept the tree and allowed the serpent to enter and to test. Man on his own has to get rid of the nature of the dust and be like God.

“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that when he shall appear we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. ” (1 Jn. 3: 2, 3)

From these scripture it is clear that if we allow the Lord to complete the work in us, which He has started when we came to the foot of the cross. We will be like Him, as He is, nothing short of Him that is what God desires of us. In Phil. 2: 12, we read, “Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. ” Man on his own has to throw away the nature of dust (nature of the flesh) which means he has to work out his own salvation.

“And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thundering saying, alleluia, for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to him, for the marriage of the lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. “

The scripture is very clear. “His wife (the bride – Church) hath made herself ready. ” To make us become like God, dust (flesh), tree and the serpent are there to be faced and to be overcome, they are there to tempt us, to fire our imaginations, to rouse our deepest desires. God did not make man of the dust so that man may sin. Lucifer was not made of “dust”, but yet he sinned. It is not necessary to fall into sin if one is made of the dust. There are two kinds of sins -Physical sin and spiritual sin. Lucifer had to overcome only spiritual sin (Pride) while he was dwelling in the glory of God. But Man has to overcome both physical and spiritual sin. The mystery of God’s plan is that He made man out of the dust to show that man on his own will throw away the nature of dust (desires of the flesh) and will overcome both physical and spiritual sin. Therefore his level is higher than that of Lucifer.

   The Uniqueness of Christ

In Mathew 4: 1-10 we read about the temptation of Christ. Christ was led by the spirit to be tempted by the devil for spiritual sin. There was no chance for physical sin in Christ. The reason, the seed in Him was no ordinary human seed. He had a physical body that differed from our physical body in many ways. It is true, that in many ways His body was like ours but it differed. Our body has been formed from the seed of fallen Adam, sin factor is there. Sin can enter our body easily. But that was not the case with Christ. Sin could not enter His body. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit. The scriptures says, that Joseph “knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son; ” (Math. 1: 25)

Though Christ was conceived in the womb of Mary, He had his umbilical cord connected to the body of Mary, He drank her milk, born like others, He grew up like other children, He had physical characters as we have, but He had no human parents. Today we find many teaching the erroneous doctrine, that – “Christ could have committed sin”, but it was the Holy Spirit that protected him. That is blasphemy, be careful while reading books and check the messages of the preachers for the doctrines. In these last days many devouring wolves are preaching from our pulpits. Bringing good messages that satisfy our desires. Beware of these preachers who do not believe in the virgin birth of Christ, who doubt the sinless ness of Christ.

   The Temptation of Christ

A question does arise, if Christ was sinless and the sin factor could not enter in, then why the temptation in the wilderness of Mathew 4. Look at the scriptures it is very clear. Lucifer the archangel fell, because of spiritual sin, he was full of pride he wanted to overthrow God, and this is not a simple desire. This is spiritual sin. To overcome Satan, one has to overcome spiritual sin. There were three tests before Christ. Firstly he was tempted by Satan to become like God. He asked Christ when he was hungry to make bread out of the stones, a thing that Christ could have done. Meet your urgent needs. Lucifer had fallen into the desire but Christ stood His ground, He overcame the first test.

Satan brought the second test – get a big name. “Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on the pinnacle of the temple. And saith unto him, if thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down, for it is written, he shall give his angels charge concerning thee; and in their hands they shall bear thee up. Lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. ” Look at the words of Lucifer, he is tempting Christ to jump down, so that the people may see the miracle and may accept him as their Messiah and that he may get a big name, Already a fresh wave of revival was spreading in the land of Israel because of the preaching’s of John the Baptist, that the Messiah is coming, and the multitudes from far and near were coming, repenting of their sins, and being baptized of him in the river Jordan. But Christ overcame that temptation also.

Finally he comes with the last temptation, “Again the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain and showeth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them. And saith unto him, “All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. ” He tempts Christ to overcome all the troubles of life and to enjoy a comfortable life, but Christ overcame that too and proved that He is worthy to overcome Satan and to crush his head.

Lucifer fell in spiritual sin (pride) and Christ- the last Adam, overcame spiritual sin and crushed his head. The first Adam fell in sin while enjoying all the comforts of a garden, but the last Adam overcame the temptation on a hungry stomach in the wilderness. We have to overcome both physical and spiritual sin and become like God. Our battle is hard therefore the Holy Spirit the third person in the holy Trinity is there to help us. Therefore in Rev. 2 and 3 we read, it is written seven times that, “to him that over cometh’

“To him that over cometh will I give to eat of the tree of life. ” (2: 7) “He that over cometh shall not be hurt of the second death. ” (2: 11) “To him that over cometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna and will give him a white

Stone. ” (2: 17) “And he that over cometh and keepth my works, unto the end, to him will I give power

Over the nations. ” (2: 26) “He that over cometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment. ” (3: 5) “Him that over cometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God. ” (3: 12) “To him that over cometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne. ” (3: 21)

Let us just look at the innermost desire of God. He wants us to be like Him. For that He has made us of dust so that we on our own may overcome the nature of the dust (desires of the flesh) The tree of knowledge is there, to fire up our imaginations so that we may overcome them, and the serpent – Satan is allowed to tempt us so that we may know who we really are and be over comers and be like God our creator. Just imagine if these three things were not there what would we have been. God has crushed the head of Satan and kept him alive for us.

Temptation comes for our good. It is all to make us like Him. If God wanted us to sin He would not have put a conscience in us. No one can blame God. In whomsoever the conscience is not working (Those who are mentally ill from birth) will not go to hell. Almighty creator God has installed His own video camera in us (Our brains) it is recording every passing moment of our life. It records our every action and the desires or motives behind every action. Therefore no one can escape before the throne of God everything will be revealed. We cannot delete anything. It’s all there stored up for the great judgment day. Where are we? Have we fallen into the trap of Satan? Or are we truly over comers. Are we blaming Eve (the circumstances), or the serpent (Satan) or the dust (the desires of our flesh), which is there in us and around us? Or are we being over comers. Remember the Holy Spirit is there with us to help us become over comers. But still we fall short. Only over comers will be on the throne with Him.

   The Real Sheep

“For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. ” (2 Cor. 4: 16)

In a person there are two personalities – the outer man and the inner man. The outer man has a date of birth, it has color, has sex difference etc. It is not difficult to understand how the outer man was formed. Through the sexual union of a man and woman the “Outer man” is formed in the womb of a woman. For that a seed of man is necessary a woman cannot give birth to a child on her own.

In the same way the “Inner man” of a person also needs “a seed” to be formed. The scripture says, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. ” (1 Pet. 1: 23) The “Outer man” is formed by the “corruptible seed”, but the “inner man” is formed of “incorruptible seed”. Suppose a woman says that she is pregnant, initially we may believe her but we will only believe her once we see physical signs of her pregnancy. But even after 6 months if there are no physical signs, but still she says that she is pregnant we will say that, it is just a feeling and not reality. The fact is that no seed has come in her womb. If it were so, then there would have been physical signs for everyone to see. After nine months are over, the world would see the product of the seed.

There are many who say that they are “born again”, but even after 5 or 10 years there are no physical signs of growth in them. They are in an illusion; they feel that they are born again. To get healed of their sickness or to get married they accepted Christ. The real seed “the incorruptible word” has not come inside them. Today there are many like them inside the church. Claiming to be “born again”. Such people will not see heaven. They do not have the true seed within them. That is the reason that there is no spiritual growth in them. No wonder, when the true saints are packing up to go to their eternal home. These are going after the world. They have no sense of holiness.

How do we know that the true seed, “the word” has come in their life or not? The Word of God says, “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him, and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. ” (1 John 3: 9)

   The Power of the Seed

Man has a three-fold body – Body (flesh), soul and spirit. To understand the work of the “seed” let us take an illustration, imagine that there are two close friends, Tom and Harry. They grew up together, and were in bad company together, both were under the control of Satan. But one day Harry, was convicted of his sins by the Holy Spirit, and he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. The reason for this change is that, “the seed” of God has come inside him. But we should keep in mind, that his friend Tom, who is still under the control of Satan has the seed of Satan inside him, therefore he still continues to enjoy sin, unmindful of where his life is heading. He is bringing forth the fruit of the flesh.

One fine day, Tom took Harry to a movie show. Harry was initially not willing to go, but because he was not able to withstand the temptation of the movies he accompanied Tom to the movie theatre. Just imagine, when both of them are inside the theatre watching the movie with many others, what is the spiritual reaction of both of them inside the theatre.

Tom is enjoying every moment of the movie because he is unsaved, having the “seed of Satan” inside him, his body, soul and spirit will enjoy every moment of the film show. But on the other hand, Harry who has the “Seed of God”, is not able to enjoy the film like his friend, he will be the most miserable person inside the whole theatre. The reason for this spiritual condition is the seed inside him is from God. He will be depressed. He cannot enjoy sin. That is what John writes. “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin.”

This does not mean that short comings will not come in a man, as long as one is on this earth, if he is not careful in his Christian walk, there are chances for him to be ensnared in the trap of Satan. But the point is, even if he falls down, he will never be able to enjoy sin, as he once used to do so, provided the “Seed of God” is there inside him. Though he is inside the theatre, the Holy Spirit will be convicting him. He will be shaking all over. He will not have the boldness to approach the presence of God. He will be restless till he repents of his sins, and gets right with God.

From this we know, whether there is “the seed of God” in a man or not. If this is the way the Spirit of God works, then it is no big surprise to believe that not all the so called believers who turn up at the Church for Sunday worship have a true born again experience. If there is no remorse or repentance in a believer for the sin committed, and he enjoys the pleasures of this world as the heathens do, then there is nothing to doubt, it is very clear that either the seed of God has never come inside him, or the Holy Spirit has left him taking away the “seed of God”. Such people will not go to heaven, no matter who he is or how long he has been attending the Church or has been claiming to be a believer. His forefathers may be real Disciples of Christ, but he isn’t. His walk proves it.

   Careful O’ Shepherds

The servants of God have to be careful, not to fill the churches with people who just want healing or material benefits. Remember the words of Christ. “The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man who sowed good seed in his field. ” (Math. 13: 24-30)

“But while men slept his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him. Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in they field? From whence then hath it tares? Then said he unto them an enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest; and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, gather up together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them; but gather the wheat unto my barn.”

While the Church is on this earth, there will be “tares” also growing with the “good seeds”. It is the responsibility of the Pastors, whom God has appointed as the shepherds to be very careful; and be vigilant. He is not supposed to look at the amount of offering a person is bringing. The tares are a very clever lot. They will bring good offerings. A tare will grow in the midst of the good seeds. He will grow in reputation and gradually he will prevent the good seed from growing. This is the ploy of the enemy – Satan. Do not think that God is bringing everyone inside the Church, not all are convicted of their sins. There are many “tares” – agents of Satan, who do not have the incorruptible seed of God within them. They have not been “born again”.

In the first century Peter the apostle was vigilant he spotted Ananaias coming with money. In those days gold and silver were kept as the feet of the servants of God. Peter and other were not running after money. Remember Satan is coming behind money. So many ministers have been destroyed by this mammon (money) huge ministries are bloated with money, but Satan the enemy is laughing, he is not worried looking at the size of the ministries, because he knows that they are not strong enough to withstand him.

In my personal ministry I have left so many churches that were having fellowship with me. I bought them land; with the money the Lord gave me. The reason, I am just concerned about one thing, the glory of God should be there in the Church. Dear friends! There was a time when you used to cry when you committed sin. You spent sleepless nights, till you were right with God. You were guarding your spiritual life with great zeal. But what is your condition today? Can you still say that you are the same old person? Has not your heart hardened, and do you not have any conviction. Is the spirit of the Lord still leading you? Is not the Holy Spirit grieved? “And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. ” (Eph. 4: 30)

Our Guide

Christ says, “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another comforter, that he may abide with you for ever. ” (John 14: 16) The third person in the Holy Trinity – The Holy Spirit has come to ‘abide’ with us always. He wants to be with me always, He wants to go with me wherever I go. What do we do? We walk on our own, the whole week, and then seek him on Sundays. Is this not the real fact? The Holy Spirit is grieved. He has come to “teach you all things, and to bring all things to your remembrance whatsoever I have said unto you. ” (John 14: 26) He wants to teach us all things. But if we do not ask him, and walk as we wish, then how much He is grieved.

In John 16: 7, 8 Christ says, “When he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness and of judgment of sin.” In verse 13 he says, “when he, the spirit of truth is come, he will guide you into all truth for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak and he will show you things to come. ” Holy Spirit is my closest friend I ask him counsel for everything in my life when I go to buy anything, or if I do anything I seek His counsel. Therefore I have no problem in seeking the will of God.

I have been threatened on so many occasions, they have put a price for my head but I am least bothered, I do not need the help of the human bodyguards. I walk with Him and I ask Him, whether I have grieved Him in any way. If I scold my wife for any wrong she has done, still I ask sorry from her. I do not know to do anything without the Holy Spirit. I need Him every time; I cannot live for a moment without the Holy Spirit. I am least bothered, let the whole world turn against me.

Dear friend! Do you enjoy the company of the Holy Spirit? If you have grieved him till now. Set your record straight. The coming of the Lord is very near. Be careful, if we continue to grieve Him, He will leave you once and for all. Our God is a God of principles, He will not interfere in your freedom that He has given you. He will convict you through His spirit, warn you through circumstances and incidents, through His word through His anointed servants of God, but still if we wish to walk on our own. Then He will forsake us. Where are you dear friend? Are you heeding the voice of God? If not then why? And for how long? Today is the right time; tomorrow it may be too late

   The Sheep’s heart

“For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. ” (2 Cor. 4: 16)

Apostle Paul is exhorting the Corinthian believers that, “Though our outward man (the flesh) will perish, but our inner man (the spiritual man), is renewed day by day “. For our inward man to grow, a new heart is required. From the old stony heart a new heart cannot come forth. Ezek 36: 26 says, “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you, and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. ” For the spiritual inward wan to grow, the first condition is that the old stony cold heart has to be broken and thrown out. Till that has taken place, spiritual growth is not possible.

Just look at the beautiful preaching coming from our beautiful pulpits, or through the radio programme or through other mediums. What are we offering the world? Though many are flocking to the church, but why is that no cries of a convicted heart is being heard? Why don’t we hear the groaning sounds of a repentant sinner? What we hear these days is a lot of music, laughing and dancing. Can we say that these are the saved sinners, who do not have the slightest respect for the presence of holy God? Neither do they have a pinch of remorse for their evil ways. Whom are we trying to fool?

In the first century when Peter the Apostle preached under the powerful anointing of the Holy Spirit, the scripture says, “They were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, men and brethren, what shall we do?” (Acts 2: 37) That was the effect of the preaching in those days. Sermons were not being preached, some book knowledge was not being dished out from the altar, but they were convicting messages, soaked in the Holy Spirit, and one could sense the anointing dripping from it. Before such messages, no heart was strong enough to resist the impact of the power of the word of God.

Today, we hear a lot of preaching’s, through radio programmes, books, meetings, the sinners hear the same name of Jesus, but the effect is not there why? Has the Gospel become powerless with the passage of time? No never, the scriptures have not lost any authority or effect, but the fault is with the preachers. Peter was not preaching about healing or showing some psychological tricks on how to get more blessings from God. He was calling a spade a spade. He was not mincing words. Hear him preach in Acts 2 and 3. That was a powerful message. He was hammering at sin and hypocrisy. He was least bothered about his own safety or about the other 120 who were there in the upper room. Jerusalem was not going to be the same anymore. The hearers of the message were pricked in their heart.

Why can’t the preachers today do the same preaching? Why is the Holy Spirit not giving us the same boldness? We have the whole collection of 66 books in one volume, and in our own language in our hands, but still look at the tragedy. Just look at the efforts we are putting in to attract the sinners inside the church. Some are offering gymnasiums, some offer tea and so many facilities in the Church. Millions are bypassing the church and going after the so-called gurus and holy men, who are fooling these people with their rubbish. Teaching things that make no sense. People are spiritually hungry, but the church has nothing to offer just few stale crumbs of healing and prosperity. We can show the old ovens, where there used to be hot bread in the yester years. All that we have to share is that once upon a time there used to be a great move of the Holy Spirit, our forefathers used to do this and that, but brother, what is happening with us. The world is puzzled looking at a child of God. But of today we have nothing. We glory in our past. The present world wants to see something now.

Dear friends, just see for yourself, are the people being pricked in their hearts as you share the Gospel with them. You may be a servant of God or a layman. That is not important, but the effect should be there. We need the boldness to tell the sinners about their sins and the coming wrath of God. What we do is we just tell people what they want to hear, we do not want to hurt their feelings. We try to massage them, by telling them that if the doctors are not able to cure you, our Jesus can, but we do not have the boldness to tell a sick world, that the main cause of their sickness is their sins. Christ did not come to heal the sick, but to save the sinners from eternal hell fire. That is our primary concern. Whether a person is healed or not, he should be saved. Otherwise a person will be healed and if not saved he will go to hell.

First of all when a sick person comes he should be told about the seriousness of his spiritual sickness. Then only will he be pricked in his heart. Today we can see many crying inside the church. Do not believe every crying. Check to see why the person is crying. Today many are fooling the church and the servants of God with their tears. When we see some one crying we think that the person has been convicted of his sins. No its not necessary, he may be crying out of self pity, looking at his problems, misery, he may be crying to get blessings, this crying is emotional. The Holy Spirit has not convicted him. He is not looking at the seriousness of his sins. He is not crying for mercy but like a thankless stubborn child crying for more blessings. Today many of these kinds are inside the church. It is very easy to remind one of his sufferings, to touch the emotions, for that the anointing is not required, boldness is not needed.

2 Cor. 5: 17 says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.” Through the work of the Holy Spirit a person becomes a “new creature”, “old things are passed away. ” He is not a modified version of the old man, not a recycled new man, but is absolutely new. The scripture says that, “All things are passed away”. Nothing has been left behind, that is how the spirit of God works in a person. Paul writes,

“And that ye put on the new man which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. ” (Eph. 4: 24)

“And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him. ” (Col. 3: 10)

As we have seen earlier the first man Adam was created to have dominion over everything (Gen. 1: 26, -28) but when he sinned, all his dominion and authority was lost. In the life of a child of God, there is an inner man, and an outer man. The inner man has been formed of the eternal heavenly seed. He has been formed in the image of God to have dominion over everything on this earth. This includes dominion over the satanic powers, sickness, problems over everything. So when we have got back the dominion by the grace of God, then we have to live accordingly.

Today many saints, start crying the moment they see any shadow of a problem. That is not Christianity. Let the whole world see the real nature of our inward man then Satan will run. And the apostle says, we are strong enough to pull down the strongholds of the enemy. Just think why has God formed a new man inside us in His divine image, where are we? What more do we expect from the Lord. What kind of a life are we leading? It is high time, we get our priorities right. Today is the right time. Tomorrow it may be too late.

May God bless you.

Pastor K.E. Abraham
Pastor K.E. Abraham, founder of Indian Pentecostal Church of God, was born in 1st March 1899, in Puthencav, near Chenganoor, in Kerala, India. His parents were members of the Syrian Orthodox Jacobite Church. At the age of 7 he was sent to a Marthomite Sunday School. From his young age he was saved and lived as a Son of God. In 1914, he dedicated his life to gospel work in a meeting conducted by Moothamplackal Kochukunju Upadesi. In 1915 after he passed his 7th class, he was appointed as a schoolteacher. He also began his gospel work at the same time. He was baptized in water on 27 February 1916 at the age of 17, and separated from the Jacobite Church. That same year, K.E. Abraham and later Mrs. K.E. Abraham resigned their teaching jobs.

As he understood the doctrine of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, he tarried for this and was baptized in the Spirit on 22 April 1923. Many dependent local churches were started in Kerala through the ministry of Pastor K.E.Abraham. In the beginning, they had no special name. When they faced the need for marriage registration, they chose the name “South Indian Pentecostal Church of God.”

Monthly fellowship meetings began in 1924. The first General Convention of the Church took place at Ranni, April 1-5, 1925. On 1 May 1930, Pastor K.E.Abraham and his family moved their residence from Mulakuzha to Kumbanad. Obeying the inspiration God gave him, K.E. Abraham started Hebron Bible School in June 1930.The work of the church began to spread in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and North India. In 194, the name of the church was changed to “India Pentecostal Church of God”

Pastor K.E. Abraham and his co-workers began to travel into other Indian States, and finally outside India. He visited Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Germany, Belgium, France, England, Egypt, Israel, Lebanon, Syria, and the United States, among others, witnessing the gospel of Christ. His two sons Pastor T.S.Abraham and Pastor Oommen Abraham followed the footsteps of their father. During January 6-13, 1974, the 50th General Convention of the Church took place at Hebron, Kumbanad. Pastor K.E.Abraham was promoted to glory on 9 December 1974.

Mrs. K.E. Abraham

Apples
Song of Solomon 2:5
Strengthen me with raisins, refresh me with apples, for I am faint with love.

Barley
Deuteronomy 8:7-9
For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land–a land with streams and pools of water, with springs flowing in the valleys and hills; a land with wheat and barley, vines and fig trees, pomegranates, olive oil and honey; 9) a land where bread will not be scarce and you will lack nothing; a land where the rocks are iron and you can dig copper out of the hills.

Beans
Ezekiel 4:9
“Take wheat and barley, beans and lentils, millet and spelt; put them in a storage jar and use them to make bread for yourself. You are to eat it during the 390 days you lie on your side.”
2 Samuel 17:28-29
brought bedding and bowls and articles of pottery. They also brought wheat and barley, flour and roasted grain, beans and lentils, 29) honey and curds, sheep, and cheese from cows’ milk for David and his people to eat. For they said, “The people have become hungry and tired and thirsty in the desert.”

Bread
Ezekiel 4:9
“Take wheat and barley, beans and lentils, millet and spelt; put them in a storage jar and use them to make bread for yourself. You are to eat it during the 390 days you lie on your side.

Dairy
Isaiah 7:15, 22
He will eat curds and honey when he knows enough to reject the wrong and choose the right. 22) And because of the abundance of the milk they give, he will have curds to eat. All who remain in the land will eat curds and honey.
Proverbs 27:27
You will have plenty of goats’ milk to feed you and your family and to nourish your servant girls.

Figs
1 Samuel 30:11-12
They found an Egyptian in a field and brought him to David. They gave him water to drink and food to eat– 12) part of a cake of pressed figs and two cakes of raisins. He ate and was revived, for he had not eaten any food or drunk any water for three days and three nights.

Fish
Leviticus 11:9-12
Of all the creatures living in the water of the seas and the streams, you may eat any that have fins and scales. 10) But all creatures in the seas or streams that do not have fins and scales–whether among all the swarming things or among all the other living creatures in the water–you are to detest. 11) And since you are to detest them, you must not eat their meat and you must detest their carcasses. 12) Anything living in the water that does not have fins and scales is to be detestable to you.
Deuteronomy 14:9
Of all the creatures living in the water, you may eat any that has fins and scales.
Luke 24:42-43
They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43) and he took it and ate it in their presence.

Fruit
Ezekiel 47:12
Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing.”
Deuteronomy 8:7
For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land–a land with streams and pools of water, with springs flowing in the valleys and hills; a land with wheat and barley, vines and fig trees, pomegranates, olive oil and honey; 9) a land where bread will not be scarce and you will lack nothing; a land where the rocks are iron and you can dig copper out of the hills.
Song of Solomon 2:5
Strengthen me with raisins, refresh me with apples, for I am faint with love.

Garlic
Numbers 11:5
We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost–also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic.

Grains
Ezekiel 4:9
“Take wheat and barley, beans and lentils, millet and spelt; put them in a storage jar and use them to make bread for yourself. You are to eat it during the 390 days you lie on your side.

Grapes
Numbers 13:23
When they reached the Valley of Eshcol,[1] they cut off a branch bearing a single cluster of grapes. Two of them carried it on a pole between them, along with some pomegranates and figs.
Genesis 9:20
Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded to plant a vineyard.
1 Timothy 5:23
Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.
1 Kings 21:2
Ahab said to Naboth, “Let me have your vineyard to use for a vegetable garden, since it is close to my palace. In exchange I will give you a better vineyard or, if you prefer, I will pay you whatever it is worth.”

Herbs
Numbers 11:7 -9
The manna was like coriander seed and looked like resin. The people went around gathering it, and then ground it in a handmill or crushed it in a mortar. They cooked it in a pot or made it into cakes. And it tasted like something made with olive oil. 9) When the dew settled on the camp at night, the manna also came down.
Psalm 51:7
Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
John 19:29-30
A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. 30) When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Honey
1 Samuel 14:27
But Jonathan had not heard that his father had bound the people with the oath, so he reached out the end of the staff that was in his hand and dipped it into the honeycomb. He raised his hand to his mouth, and his eyes brightened.
2 Samuel 17:29
honey and curds, sheep, and cheese from cows’ milk for David and his people to eat. For they said, “The people have become hungry and tired and thirsty in the desert.”
Genesis 43:11
Then their father Israel said to them, “If it must be, then do this: Put some of the best products of the land in your bags and take them down to the man as a gift–a little balm and a little honey, some spices and myrrh, some pistachio nuts and almonds.

Meat
Genesis 9:3
Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.
Leviticus 72:227
The LORD said to Moses, 23) “Say to the Israelites: `Do not eat any of the fat of cattle, sheep or goats. 24) The fat of an animal found dead or torn by wild animals may be used for any other purpose, but you must not eat it. 25) Anyone who eats the fat of an animal from which an offering by fire may be[1] made to the LORD must be cut off from his people. 26) And wherever you live, you must not eat the blood of any bird or animal. 27) If anyone eats blood, that person must be cut off from his people.’”
Leviticus 317
“`This is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live: You must not eat any fat or any blood.’”

Melon
Numbers 11:5
We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost–also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic.
Isaiah 1:8
The Daughter of Zion is left like a shelter in a vineyard, like a hut in a field of melons, like a city under siege.

Milk
Exodus 3:8
So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey–the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.
Isaiah 7:22
And because of the abundance of the milk they give, he will have curds to eat. All who remain in the land will eat curds and honey.
2 Samuel 17:29
honey and curds, sheep, and cheese from cows’ milk for David and his people to eat. For they said, “The people have become hungry and tired and thirsty in the desert.”

Nuts
Genesis 43:11
Then their father Israel said to them, “If it must be, then do this: Put some of the best products of the land in your bags and take them down to the man as a gift–a little balm and a little honey, some spices and myrrh, some pistachio nuts and almonds.

Olives
James 5:14
Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.
2 Kings 18:32
until I come and take you to a land like your own, a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of olive trees and honey. Choose life and not death! “Do not listen to Hezekiah, for he is misleading you when he says, `The LORD will deliver us.’

Onions
Numbers 11:5
We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost–also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic.

Pomegranates
Deuteronomy 8:8
a land with wheat and barley, vines and fig trees, pomegranates, olive oil and honey;

Spices
Matthew 23:23
“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices–mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law–justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.
Luke 11:42
“Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone.

Vegetables
Daniel 1:12-17
“Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink. 13) Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see.” 14 ) So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days. 15) At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food. 16) So the guard took away their choice food and the wine they were to drink and gave them vegetables instead. 17) To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds.
Numbers 11:5
We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost–also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic.
Ezekiel 4:9
“Take wheat and barley, beans and lentils, millet and spelt; put them in a storage jar and use them to make bread for yourself. You are to eat it during the 390 days you lie on your side.
Genesis 1:11
Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so.
Genesis 1:29
Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.

Wheat
Jeremiah 41:8
But ten of them said to Ishmael, “Don’t kill us! We have wheat and barley, oil and honey, hidden in a field.” So he let them alone and did not kill them with the others.
Ezekiel 4:9
“Take wheat and barley, beans and lentils, millet and spelt; put them in a storage jar and use them to make bread for yourself. You are to eat it during the 390 days you lie on your side.

Yogurt (curds)
2 Samuel 17:28-29
brought bedding and bowls and articles of pottery. They also brought wheat and barley, flour and roasted grain, beans and lentils, 29) honey and curds, sheep, and cheese from cows’ milk for David and his people to eat. For they said, “The people have become hungry and tired and thirsty in the desert.”
